The final stretch

Ten days. Just ten days until my husband and I head east towards Dragon Con. Am I freaking out a little on the inside? Nope.

I’m freaking out a lot.

I’ve nearly finished the bodysuit (should be finished tonight, in fact) and then the only other major thing to sew is the leggings for my cosplay. The problem is, there are a lot of little things that need to be done. Sleeves to finish, at least one bag to make, other cosplays to alter or fix, and who knows what else I’m forgetting right now. I have a list, though, so at least there’s that. And there’s still a lot of painting to do for the props.

The time I have left to finish everything: tonight after work, tomorrow while I do laundry at my parents’ house, Sunday, then the early morning hours before work next week and maybe some evenings. Then next weekend repeats (with Saturday and Sunday switched) and aside from maybe some hand-sewing during the drive out there that’s it. It may sound like plenty of time, but I still am freaking out. Ten days. Just ten days.

I’m actually thankful that I’m not covering the con for Talk Nerdy With Us. Adding interview and article prep on top of the cosplay work? No thanks. I did that for Phoenix Comicon, but I had less cosplay work to do then.

If these cosplays turn out the way I envision, it will all be worth it. Literal blood, sweat, and tears went into these two cosplays. Literally. I have cut myself instead of the EVA foam I intended to cut, sat outside in 90+ degree heat painting boots, and cried in frustration over sewing instructions that just weren’t making sense.

That being said, I can’t wait for the con. I have two photo ops planned, a book I plan on getting autographed, and just last night I downloaded the app so I can see what kind of panels and events the con will have. Then I might also meet up with some old friends to catch up.

In just ten days I’ll be on my way to Dragon Con.

Ten days.
